Joel Sati (Founder, Editor-in-Chief)

Joel Sati (goes by Sati) is a PhD student in the Jurisprudence and Social Policy program at UC Berkeley Law School. His research is in legal and political philosophy, as well as epistemology; he focuses on illegalization and noncitizenship as it relates to a right of recognition under the law.

Sati’s previous work has dealt with the political situation of undocumented immigrants, which he hopes expands to utilizing non-ideal theory to discuss marginalized people’s positions in the ongoing debate on normative citizenship. He has also worked with local and national immigrants rights organizations such as CASA de Maryland, African Communities Together and the New York Immigration Coalition.

Sati received his B.A. in Philosophy from the City College of New York summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa.
